Overview
Project overview
A website for a fine artist who works in oil, graphite, and airbrush. It is built around the artwork, with a collection you can filter, galleries that show each piece in progress, and a commission request form.
The problem
The site needed to keep the focus on the artwork while making it easy to understand and request a commission.
Requirements
- The artwork had to stay the focus on every screen size.
- Several media and in-progress photo sequences needed a clear way to browse.
Approach
How I approached it
Most artists want the same thing from a website, even if they don’t put it this way: keep the focus on the work, but make it easy to hire them. So the design stays minimal and the art fills the page.
I designed, wrote, and built the site. The collection can be filtered by medium, and galleries show each piece built up in stages (surface, drawing, paint, finish), so visitors can see how much work goes into each one. The commission form at the bottom of the page asks for the project type, surface, budget range, and a description, so requests arrive with the details the artist needs.
